Butler Art Center announces high school show winners
The Associated Artists of Butler County announced the winners of the annual Butler County High School Exhibit at the opening night reception Friday, April 24.
Alessia Hammond, of Slippery Rock High School, was named Best of Show for “Shedding Old Skin,” mixed media.
In 2D art, Sara Breeger, of Seneca Valley High School, won first place with “Smith and Evans.” Sidney Schleiden, of Karns City Area Jr./Sr. High School, took second with “Here a Cake.” Elizabeth Semenenko, of Seneca Valley High School, took third with “Untitled.” Honorable mentions were Julia Miller and Madeline Zimmer.
In 3D ceramics, Eliana Gorog, of Butler Senior High School, took first place with “Snail Teapot.” Charlotte Acosta, of Seneca Valley High School, took second with “Humanity Overshadowed by Remarkably Superior Being.” Owen Johnson, of Seneca Valley High School, took third with “Freeing Imagination into Dimension.”
In 3D sculpture, Raina Lewandoski, of Butler Senior High School, took first place with “Monstrous Nightmare.” Lilly Bartmas, of Butler Senior High School, took second with “Centipede Lamp.” Carly Byrom, of Seneca Valley High School, took third with “Floor Dragon.” Eliana Gorog earned an honorable mention.
The free exhibit will remain open for viewing through Friday, May 8, at the Butler Art Center, 344 S. Main St. in Butler. Open hours are noon to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays.
