Butler couple accused of Evans City burglary

A Butler couple is accused of burglarizing an Evans City home.

Nathan David Leasher, 39, and Beth Ann Leasher, 44, were charged Wednesday, April 22, by Evans City police with one felony count each of burglary and criminal trespass and three misdemeanor theft counts following an April 3 incident.

Police said they responded to a home on Van Buren Street for a report of a burglary. The homeowner showed police where the back door to the home had been forced open, and items missing included $30 to $40 from his wallet, 22 Vicodin pills, four gold chains and other miscellaneous jewelry.

The woman who owned the stolen jewelry said only Nathan Leasher would have known where to look for it, police said.

Nathan and Beth Leasher both denied being at the Evans City home, police said. They told police they were going to stop at the home but decided against it when they saw no one was home.

They are being held in Butler County Prison on $25,000 bail. Preliminary hearings for the two are scheduled for May 6 before District Judge Amy Marcinkiewicz.
