You're surely a gift from God

Our darling fair-haired boy.

You brought such happiness into our lives

And filled our hearts with joy.

And as those happy years rolled by

It's good we didn't know

That your time with us would be cut short

For we could never have let you go.

And as we proudly watched you grow

We surely should have known,

That God also was watching you

And prepared you for His own.

There was so much you had yet to do

In time you became a man,

But all those things we wished for you were never in God's plan.

For all the hopes and dreams we had for you

Were never meant to be,

For God took your hand that September eve

And whispered "Shawn, come with me."

We are left with many tears.

Our hearts are full of pain.

Our lives without you, "Dear sweet child",

Will never be the same.

We grieve for you as time passes by

We often speak your name

We must go on without you

For you can't come back again.

We miss your ready laughter

Those hugs and sunny smiles.

Our longings to have you back again,

Fill memories awhile.

We're left with precious memories, And Shawn, be blessed with love.

We know that we'll all be together again

At home in Heaven above.
