Gibson powers Butler

Senior center scores 12 as Tornado topple Rams

Julia Gibson continued her recent stellar play with a team-leading 12 points as the Butler girls basketball team outlasted Pine-Richland on the road, 38-33, Thursday night.

Gibson scored 10 of her points in the second half as the Golden Tornado overcame a halftime deficit.

Emma Monteleone scored eight points, including two 3-pointers, and Jordan Kauffman pitched in seven for Butler, which enters the holiday break 4-2 overall and 2-1 in the section.

Riley Lewis won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:12.02 for the Slippery Rock boys and Reagan Soursa captured the 500 freestyle, finishing in 6:19.16 for the Rocket girls in a pair of losses to Sharon.

The boys fell 84-44 while the girls dropped an 83-35 decision.

Rifle

Andrew Arbanas, Riley Rodgers, Alec Stamm, Taylor Gilliland, Randy Maire, Max Wertz and Dylann Yarrington all shot 100s for Butler in a 799-57x to 797-53x win over Mt. Lebanon.
