FSA county members elected
The election for the Farm Service Agency county committee members to represent producers in Local Administrative Area 2, Area 4 and Area 5 was held Friday with the following results.
Elected for a three-year term in LAA Area 2 as the committee member was Norman Graham of Connoquenessing Township. Janet Jesteadt of Muddy Creek Township was elected first alternate and Carl Shuler of Clearfield Township was named second alternate. Area 2 in Butler County consists of Lancaster, Muddy Creek, Center, Franklin, Donegal, Oakland, Butler, Connoquenessing, Clearfield and Summit.
Elected for a three-year term in LAA Area 4 as the committee member was Elder Vogel of New Sewickley. Ronald Caldwell of North Sewickley was elected first alternate and Christine Fischer of Franklin Township was elected second alternate. Area 4 is in Beaver County and includes Darlington, North Sewickley, Marion, Franklin, South Beaver, Chippewa, Daugherty, Rochester, New Sewickley and Brighton.
Elected for a one-year term in LAA Area 5 as the committee member was James Brunton Jr. of Independence Township, Beaver County. Virginia Strauss of Findlay Township, Allegheny County, was elected first alternate and William Scott of Oakdale, Allegheny County, was named second alternate. Area 5 consists of southern Beaver County and all of Allegheny County.
Committee members are paid for their time and mileage expenses. They are responsible for administering FSA programs in Butler, Beaver and Allegheny Counties. Alternates are called upon for committee meetings and other assignments when the regular member is unable to attend.
A locally elected FSA committee serves each agricultural county in the nation. Meetings are open to the public and are held monthly, sometimes more often, depending upon program demand.
The Butler-Beaver-Allegheny FSA office is staffed by four employees who conduct daily operations for the committee.
