Police: Cranberry Township man brings firearm into Pittsburgh airport
A Cranberry Township man is accused of bringing a firearm into Pittsburgh International Airport.
Garrett Richard Beattie, 43, was charged Monday, April 20, by Allegheny County police with misdemeanor firearms not to be carried without a license following an incident Monday.
Police said they found a Luger semiautomatic pistol in Beattie’s bag when it went through an X-ray machine. The pistol did not have a round in the chamber but had 16 9 mm rounds loaded in the magazine.
Beattie told police he forgot he had the firearm in his bag. He did not have a concealed carry permit.
Beattie was transported to Allegheny County Jail but was not in custody Monday afternoon. His firearm was confiscated.
