3 killed overnight in Mercer County fire
A mother and her two children died in an overnight house fire Thursday, April 16, in Mercer County, according to the Mercer County coroner.
Malinda Abrams, 48, Amelia Abrams, 16, and Leroy Abrams, 12, were pronounced dead at 6 a.m. after being found by firefighters inside the home in Sandy Lake Township near Stoneboro, according to a news release from Coroner John. A. Libonati.
The fire was reported around 4 a.m., according to Mercer County Public Safety. Crews responded to 1305 Walnut St. to find the home fully engulfed.
Police confirmed that five people were in the house and two adults were able to escape the home.
The cause and manner of death for the three killed is under investigation. Libonati said foul play is not suspected at this time. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the state police fire marshal.
