Harrisville park upgrades to come
HARRISVILLE — Borough council is making strides toward revitalizing their parks and recreational areas through repairs and additions.
At a council meeting on Monday April 13, Troy Douthett, a board member for the Butler Area Skate Park Association, brought some information about options to repair cracks and damage in the asphalt at the skate park for the borough to review for its own park. The mortar mix brought as an example by Douthett was a calcium sulfoaluminate cement. This type of cement is recommended for the project as it doesn’t include oil that can reactivate in the heat.
“It shouldn’t matter if someone’s riding a bicycle, a scooter or even remote control cars, (as) we’ve seen being used on ours.” Douthett said.
Also on the agenda was discussion about future playground equipment to be purchased with recently applied for grants. If awarded the grants, the borough is hoping to integrate multiple pieces of inclusive playground equipment, an action previously proposed by the rotary. These additions could include accessible swings, a merry-go-round and a seesaw.
