The inaugural Butler County Community College 5K Cross Country Run-Walk will be held at 9 a.m. Oct. 9.

The course will be the large grass hill at the front entrance to the school, which resembles the school's cross country course from the 1970s.

If paid before Oct 2, the cost is $8 prior, $6 for 13 and under and 60 and over); $10 and $8 thereafter.

The Children's Miracle Network will host a fund-raiser in which participants have a chance to qualify for a shot at $1 million.From noon to 8 p.m. Saturday at Scally's Golf Center in Coraopolis, contestants will pay a small fee ($1 for one ball, $5 for 7, $10 for 15, $20 for 35 or $50 for 100) to hit a golf ball at a target 135 yards away.The male and female golfers who make a hole-in-one or are the closest will earn a chance to attempt another hole-in-one for $1 million Sept. 13 at Quicksilver Golf Club in Midway.
