KC track teams sweep A-C Valley

Karns City's boys and girls track teams flexed their muscles Wednesday, defeating A-C Valley by scores of 112-38 and 94.5-54.5.

Eric Pfeifer won the 300-meter hurdles and high jump for the Gremlins, who won the majority of events in both meets.

Baseball

Gabe Franz hit a bases-loaded triple to highlight a four-run second inning as Mars won at North Allegheny, 6-1.

The Tigers were limited to three hits. Joey Craska pitched five innings for the victory. Jon Wetherholt contributed three singles for the Planets.

Mars dropped an 8-7 decision Wednesday at Baldwin. Tyler Kowalkowski had three singles, Franz a double and single, Wetherholt two singles in the loss.

Mars takes on Pine-Richland at 4 p.m. Thursday at Pullman Park.

Tori Radvan allowed only four hits while striking out seven in 6.1 innings pitched Wednesday as Freeport defeated Burrell, 7-4.

Maddy Shanta had three singles and an RBI for the Yellowjackets. Emily Schmidt had a double and two RBI, Ally DeJidas a double and single, Autumn Powell two singles and an RBI, Radvan a single and two RBI.

Slippery Rock 10, Fort LeBoeuf 7 — Julianna Hutchinson drilled a pair of home runs and a triple as the Rockets won their season opener. Alex Frazier struck out five in 6.1 innings for the victory.
