KC softball tops Cranberry, 7-5

Karns City plated five runs over the first two innings and never trailed afterward in a 7-5 softball victory over visiting Cranberry on Friday.

The Gremlins tallied five extra-base hits in the game, including a home run off the bat of Mackenzie Dunn and a pair of doubles from Taylor Ekis.

Dunn and Kate Allen both drove in three runs.

Logan Byers pitched a complete game in the win, striking out three and walking one while surrendering the five runs on 10 hits.

Boys Lacrosse

Sean Fennell and Garret Schauffhauser led the team in scoring as Freeport defeated North Hills, 10-1, recently.

Greg Smith was in goal for the Yellowjackets, who were sparked by the defensive efforts of Hunter Turner, Josh Bollinger, Kai Sosa and Slade Ohl.

Fennell had five goals and four assists, Schaffhauser two goals and four assists in a recent 15-11 loss to Gateway.

Girls Lacrosse

Elizas Drohan scored three goals in Butler's 10-9 loss to Moon recently.

Kate Quinlan and Karolyn Miller scored two goals each, Taryn Thompson and Evelyn Vissari one for the Golden Tornado.

Track and Field

Both Freeport track teams were dominant in wins over Valley on Thursday, with the Yellowjackets girls winning 111-27 and the boys downing the Vikings 122-28.

For the girls, Maggie Hollobaugh took first place in the 1,600 and 3,200 runs.

Brodey Woods won the 100 and 200 dashes in the boys' meet.
