BC3 head ready to walk for a cause
Butler County Community College students, alumni and friends have just a month left to make their president take a hike.
The college is in the middle of its annual campaign to raise $25,000 for general needs. If the goal is reached by Oct. 31, President Nick Neupauer pledges to walk on Nov. 9 from his Slippery Rock home to BC3. That's about 20 miles.
Neupauer said he never has walked that far, but he has been practicing by walking and running as much as possible.
"Recently I walked about eight miles and thought it wasn't that bad," he said.
He also is hoping for good weather.
The campaign is called "President's Challenge: A Walk for Our Students."
So far, employees have pledged $12,500, half the goal.
