State reps disregarding the working people
With inflation increasing daily, making it harder by each paycheck for the working residents of Butler County to make ends meet to house, feed and clothe themselves, as well as pay health care premiums and copays, why in this world would all four of our Butler County State House representatives vote against raising the minimum wage from a measly $7.25 per hour, the same minimum wage in Pennsylvania since 2009?!
Per the Butler Eagle article published online March 24 (“State house passes minimum wage bill”), “All four of Butler County’s representatives — Stephenie Scialabba, R-12th, Marci Mustello, R-11th, Tim Bonner, R-17th, and Aaron Bernstine, R-8th — voted against the bill.” (Scialabba has since resigned.)
These same representatives, who are always touting how much they care for the working people of Butler County, obviously vote against the needs of the people!
If this is what we can expect from this current batch of so-called “representatives,” perhaps it is high time we all rethink this habit of continuing to settle for electing the same incumbents, regardless of party, for multiple terms when they are letting all of us down term after term!
The informal definition of insanity is “to keep doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” The Nov. 3 general election this year is our chance to stop electing these same “representatives” over and over again and actually get better representation from a new batch and thereby get better results for we the people!
