BC3 plans Cranberry changes
CRANBERRY TWP — Butler County Community College likely will kick off renovations next year at its Cranberry Township facility, provided the college receives state assistance.
Renovations would include adding classrooms to the 23,000-square-foot building by dividing up 14 large classrooms. Improvements also would include adding a 3,500-square- foot life sciences laboratory and making cosmetic changes.
The preliminary estimated cost of the project is $1.2 million, said BC3 spokesman Susan Changnon.
Jim Hrabosky, vice president of finance, said the college will apply in March for a state grant and should hear back from the state by June. He is confident BC3 will receive state funds since academic-related improvements take precedent.
Changnon said that the college will ask the state for the total project cost, but she said she is not sure how much it will get.
“We don’t know yet,” she said.
The project was discussed Wednesday at a BC3 board meeting at its Cranberry facility.
BC3 has served students at its Cranberry campus since 1987, and has been at its Executive Drive facility since 1990.
The college has 470 credit students and 350 non-credit students there.
