Community college graduation Wednesday

BUTLER TWP — Butler County Community College will host its 48th annual graduation on Wednesday, graduating about 530 students.

The event will have 228 students walking, including students from all campuses.

This year’s keynote speaker will be Wil Del Pilar, the acting deputy secretary of postsecondary and higher education at the Pennsylvania Department of Education, who has a research focus on postsecondary education access, retention and policy.

Dawn K. DePasquale, Class of 1977, is the distinguished alumni speaker for the evening, having consulted for Princeton University, Reuters News Group, UPMC and Yale University.

Commencement is a closed event as it has been every year, and each graduate receives tickets for family and friends. Tickets are not available for purchase, according to Jessica Matonak, interim director of communications and marketing.

Armstrong is taping the program, which will be streamed live at bc3.edu and will air on Channel 10 the week following the event.

Graduation will be at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Field House on BC3’s main campus, 107 College Drive.
