BC3 will host Gatlin Brothers
BUTLER TWP - All the gold may be in California, but the talent is coming to Butler for one spectacular night.
Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers will perform at 8 p.m. June 24 at Butler County Community College's Succop Theater.
Tickets are on sale now and three levels are being offered: $125 for "All the Gold" seats; $90 for orchestra seats and $75 for terrace seating. The $125 seats are sold out.
Larry Stock, BC3 Cultural Center director, said the show will be the biggest BC3 has done in the two-year history of its theater.
"This is the largest thing I've brought into the theater since I've been here and by far the biggest talent," Stock said. "In this size of theater, it's going to be a unique experience."
Larry Gatlin is one of the most-recorded artists in Nashville, having been in the business for more than 40 years. Several artists, including Elvis Presley, have recorded Gatlin's songs.
He has written everything from country songs to gospel hymns to musical productions, according to his publicity company, the Bobby Roberts Agency.
He and his brothers have been performing together since the 1970s.
The stop at BC3 is the group's only scheduled performance in the state this year.Stock said he isn't worried about being able to accommodate the brothers during their performance. His confidence comes from the fact that prior to coming to BC3, Stock worked for the brothers in their theater in Myrtle Beach, S.C., for six years."They were incredible to work for," Stock said. "Very, very genuine and nice. Just like working for family."Stock said he learned a lot from the brothers, including Steve Gatlin, who taught him most of what he knows about treating people well and getting work done."Most of what I learned from Steve I've used here at BC3 and it's been very helpful," Stock said.He said it's been his dream to get the brothers here to perform ever since he came to BC3."Last time I'd seen Larry (Gatlin), I told him I needed to get him to my theater and he said to bring it on," Stock said, laughing. The show is part of a fund-raising effort for the theater, which offers a variety of musical and theater performances throughout the year. The brothers will be performing all original music at the show, including hits like "All the Gold in California" and "She Used to be Somebody's Baby."A reception will be held prior to the performance.Following the show, there will be a reception where concert-goers can get autographs from the brothers. Those with "All the Gold" tickets will be able to have a special meet-and-greet session with the brothers before their concert, Stock said. There are more than 442 seats in the theater, with 20 more being added in the orchestra pit, Stock said. More than 100 tickets already have been sold.Stock hopes the brothers will be able to play to a sold-out theater."Their talent is so incredible … the way they sing together," Stock said. "Some artists are either performers or entertainers, but not both. But the brothers are performers and entertainers, so people will definitely be entertained."
