Delegates of Dance
BUTLER TWP — From March 26 through April 24, The Paul Taylor Dance Company and Taylor 2 will blanket Pennsylvania with 26 performances, one of them in Butler.
More than 20 dancers will perform 27 works by Taylor. In comparison, the company's own City Center home season in New York City this March includes only 19 works.
In Butler, the Taylor 2 company will perform at 8 p.m. April 5 in the Succop Theater at Butler County Community College. The program will feature "Airs," "Runes" and "Piazzolla Caldera." Additionally, a workshop is planned for April 4 at Slippery Rock University.
The dance company will also perform at Harrisburg Area Community College's Rose Lehrman Arts Center, the Luhrs Center at Shippensburg University and Gettysburg's Majestic Theatre.
The main dance company is composed of 16 dancers, whereas the Taylor 2 company has six dancers, so the T2 dancers may perform multiple roles within one dance.
The tour of Pennsylvania by the Taylor companies is supported through funding from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.
