Lois Josephine Noblit, 88, died peacefully Saturday at Tidwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Port Charlotte, Fla., due to complications related to cancer.

She was born Dec. 17, 1922, in Butler, as one of four children to William George Barkley Sr. and Goldie Christley Barkley.

Lois was a longtime resident of West Sunbury and a member of the West Sunbury United Church of the Nazarene.

Lois was retired from the Pullman Standard Car Co., where she worked as a welder for 25 five years.

She enjoyed traveling and metal detecting, but her absolute greatest joy came from her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her cat, Cody.

Lois touched the lives of many with her strength, generosity and kind heart.

She will forever be remembered by her three sons, Donald L. (Karen) Noblit of Port Charlotte, Fla., Daniel L. (Janis) Noblit of Butler and Philip G. Noblit of Lake Milton, Ohio; as well as five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and countless other friends and family who were blessed to know her. She also is survived by a sister, Avlyn Moore of Tallahassee, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lawrence L. Noblit, who passed away in 1984; her brother, George Barkley; and an infant sister.

<B>NOBLIT </B>— Family and friends of Lois Josephine Noblit, who died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, will be able to celebrate Lois's life at the <B>William F. Young Funeral Home,</B> 132 Main St., West Sunbury, where visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Tim Britton, her pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the West Sunbury Union Cemetery.
