Charles Fischer
Charles Peter Fischer, 79, of Zelienople, formerly of Erie, was born Feb. 9, 1947, in Erie, a son of the late Peter and Betty Jane (Hanes) Fischer. He passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2026.
Charles graduated from Cathedral Prep High School, in Erie and went on to study computer engineering at Case University. He loved computers, and in his senior year of high school, placed first in the Pittsburgh science fair with his tic-tac-toe machine. He worked for Cornell Aeronautical, Elgin Labs Electronics, GE and Union Switch. He also devoted his life to his two businesses, Millcreek Business Systems and Fischer Computer Consulting.
He had a deep love for the Catholic Church, serving as an usher at Our Lady of Peace, in Erie and as a Third Degree Knight for the Timothy Counsel of Erie and the Wexford chapter of the Knights of Columbus. He loved the rosary and the Holy Mother.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, David, John and baby Roger; and cousin, Bob Shadduck, who was like a brother to him.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah (Johnston) Fischer, of Zelienople; daughters, Jessica Fischer and Andrea Fischer, of Erie, daughter, Christine Duffer (Kyle), of Pittsburgh, daughter, Becky Hubbard, of Zelienople; brother, Richard (Sue) Fischer; two grandsons, Elliot Hubbard and Isaiah Johnson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He had a kind heart and a caring soul and believed that half of being smart is knowing what you are dumb about. His legacy lives on in all of us, each time we remember the ways he showed his love, each time we learn something new, and each time we find ourselves subjected to Murphy's law.
