Slippery Rock High softball gets boost from Joslyn Korcok in win vs. Jamestown: Roundup
Joslyn Korcok’s complete game included eight strikeouts and just one walk in Slippery Rock softball’s 9-5 victory at home Thursday against Jamestown.
Only two of the five runs Korcok allowed were earned.
Epifani Trufley, Grace Greer, Lillian Campbell, Savannah Smith and Sophia Lawrence and Aubrie Knight each had two hits for the Rockets.
Knoch 7, Freeport 0 — Emersyn Jones clubbed two home runs and added a double for the Knights.
Her effort in the circle was also very impressive — 11 strikeouts, one walk and three hits allowed in a complete-game shutout.
McKenna Jones had three hits in the win.
Addyson Caruso tallied two base hits for Freeport.
Karns City 14, Wilmington 7 — The Gremlins’ 15-hit attack was led by Nicole Huff, who collected four hits, including a home run, scored four runs and batted in four more.
Aubrey Taylor also homered for KC.
Pine-Richland 13, Butler 7 — Madison Wiltse, Mikayla Crouch and Kinsley Smith all had multi-hit efforts.
Smith had four RBIs, while Crouch also went five innings in the circle, allowing seven hits and two earned runs while striking out three.
North Catholic defeated Allderdice 14-4 on Thursday. No further details were available.
Mt. Lebanon 5, Seneca Valley 2 — Three errors doomed the Raiders, as all five runs scored by the Blue Devils were unearned.
Ryan Rebholz, Luis Torrenegra and Parker Mell each took the mound for SV, which received a pair of base hits and RBI from Quin Carney.
Mars 5, North Hills 2 — In a game that included just seven combined hits, Colin Yurisinec singled and drove in two runs for the Planets.
Knoch 5, Shaler 4 — The Knights overcame an early four-run deficit to top the Titans.
Dante Pelloni went 3-for-3, scored a run and drove in another for Knoch. Kyle Morgan singled, doubled and drove in a run.
Cooper Allison pitched 3.1 scoreless innings of relief for the win.
Ava Pulliam fired three touchdown passes for the Planets, connecting with MacKenzie Powell twice and Miley Gratton once, but Mars fell to Fox Chapel 32-20.
Marcos Lopez, Gianni Varlotta and Dylan Howe had singles wins while the pairings of Liam Schley and Kylan Meiers and Jackson Brandt and Trent Gordon also combined for victories in Seneca Valley’s 5-0 win over Butler.
The Raiders improved to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in section play.
North Catholic swept Beaver County Christian by scores of 25-22, 25-20 and 25-22. No other details were available.
North Hills 3, Mars 0 — Will Suppa had eight kills for the Planets, who lost by scores of 25-17, 25-14 and 25-18.
Kate Geary netted four goals, Sammy Brennen three and Chloe Lundy two as North Catholic downed Seton LaSalle 13-9.
