Sandra Knauff

Knauff

Sandra “Sandy” Lou Schoeffel Knauff, 83, of Zelienople, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 23, 2026, at UPMC Passavant Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in New Castle on Aug. 22, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Harry S. “Dutch” and Jo Hanna Milheim Schoeffel. Sandy built a life rooted in devotion — to her family, her community and the simple, meaningful moments that made life beautiful.

She was a woman of deep love and quiet strength. As a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Sandy created a home filled with warmth, comfort and unwavering care. She gave her time generously, volunteering at Victory Church and later with the Evans City Historical Society, always finding purpose in helping others and preserving the stories that connect us.

Sandy retired from Traco in 2008 after 14 years as a saw operator, a role she approached with dedication and resilience. Outside of work, she found joy in life’s gentle pleasures — reading, sewing, long conversations with those she loved and caring for the animals that held a special place in her heart.

One of her greatest joys was the sense of adventure she shared with her husband. Together, they explored the East Coast on their motorcycles, camping along the way and collecting memories that would last a lifetime. These travels reflected her spirit — independent, curious and full of quiet wonder.

Sandy was preceded in death by her beloved son, Jeffrey A. Knauff; her sister Mary Jo Schoeffel; and her parents.

She is survived by her devoted husband, George A. Knauff; her son, Randy (JoAnn) Knauff; her cherished granddaughters, Karla (Steven) Miller and Katelyn Knauff (Zack Schuler); her treasured great-granddaughter, Khloe; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends whose lives she touched.

Those who knew Sandy will remember her as someone who loved deeply, listened fully and gave generously. Above all else, she was devoted to her family — her greatest pride and lasting legacy.

KNAUFF — Friends and relatives of Sandra “Sandy” Lou Schoeffel Knauff, who died Monday, March 23, 2026, will be received from 11 a.m. to noon Monday, March 30, at A. CARL KINSEY-RONALD N. VOLZ FUNERAL HOME, 328 W. Main St., Evans City, with services to follow.
