James ‘Pat’ Sammons

Sammons

James Patrick “Pat” Sammons walked into the arms of his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.

He was born in Teague, Texas, on Dec. 7, 1945, to Thomas W. and Effie Geneva Sammons. Pat lived a life filled with love, laughter and devotion to faith, family and community.

Pat was married to his dream girl, Vicki Knauff, for 58 wonderful years. Together they built a life full of cherished memories and lasting love. He was the proud father of three children, Tiffany Fosnaught (John), Kim Lewis (Kevin) and Ken Sammons (Nancy). He was the beloved grandfather of eight, Zachary and Cody (Brittany) Gilbert, Caleb (Carissa) Burke, Nathan and Daisy Lewis, and Jerry, Tyler (Jess) and Austin (Jane) Sammons. He was a great-grandfather of five, an uncle to 14 and a great-uncle to 34.

Pat was an aviation mechanic during his four years in the Navy. He was a retiree of the U.S. Postal Service.

He enjoyed coaching softball and baseball. He took great joy in cheering on his children and grandchildren at soccer games, piano recitals and countless family activities. He was known for his “Texas Charm” and never missed an opportunity to share the love of the Lord.

His kindness, humor and generous spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
