Schaffhauser, Freeport roll past Yough; Rocco shines in North Catholic win

Garret Schaffhauser threw for 207 yards and a touchdown as Freeport used a big second half to rout Yough on the road, 50-14.

For the second consecutive week, the Yellowjackets allowed a kickoff return for a score to start the game, putting them in a 7-0 hole.

But Schaffhauser scored from 1-yard out and then hit Brodey Woods for a 39-yard touchdown to give Freeport a 14-7 lead at the half.

Last week, the Yellowjackets (2-3, 2-3) scored four return touchdowns and they were at it again against Yough.

Ben Lane returned the kickoff to start the second half 83 yards for a TD.

Just 22 seconds later, Carter Dougherty scooped up a fumble and rumbled 39 yards for a TD.

Josh Bollinger completed the return trifecta with a 43-yard interception return in the third quarter.

North Catholic 42, Mt. Pleasant 28 — Zack Rocco threw for 254 yards and two touchdowns as the Trojans won this Big East Conference clash.

North Catholic (4-1, 4-0) jumped out to a 20-0 lead on touchdown runs of 18 and 5 by Anthony Serventi and 5 by Rocco.

But Mt. Pleasant (2-4, 1-3) cut the lead to 20-14 before Rocco hooked up with Nick Maher and Jared Thimons for a 34-21 lead at the half.

Avonworth 53, Summit Academy 22 — The Knights trailed 43-14 at the half.
