Geraldine Smith

Smith

Geraldine V. Henshaw Smith, 98, of Cabot, formerly of Connoquenessing Borough, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, March 22, 2026, surrounded by family, while under the care of Concordia at Cabot, Lund.

Geraldine was born July 9, 1927, in Connoquenessing, the youngest of four children, to Eli C. and Estella (Rader) Henshaw. All predeceased her.

Geraldine was a 1945 graduate of Butler High School and married Lawrence Smith on Nov. 12, 1948, in Connoquenessing. She resided in the borough of Connoquenessing for 96 years until January 2024, when health issues took her to Concordia.

She was an all-around homemaker, loving crafting, sewing and baking, especially Christmas cookies. She volunteered at Meals on Wheels and was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Connoquenessing, the church where she was baptized, married, raised her family and spent countless hours donating her time.

She is survived by her son, Larrel Smith (Patricia), of Connoquenessing; daughters, Linda Smith, of Lady Lake, Fla., and Sharpsville, Pa., and Carol Howryla (Richard), of Butler; six grandchildren, Keli (Mike) Kalkowski, Stacie Hagan, Dana (Dustin) Hartle, Derrick (Kathryn) Howryla, Emily (Lee) Gumpp and Lisa (Patrick) McCloskey; along with 15 great-grandchildren. Her brother-in-law, Paul Smith, of Slippery Rock; and many nieces and nephews, also survive.

The family wished to thank the entire staff of Concordia Lund building and Good Samaritan Hospice for the wonderful, compassionate care she received during her stay. They all became an extended family to her, addressing her every need.

SMITH — Per the wishes of the family, there will be no viewing. A celebration of life will be held at a later date for Geraldine V. Smith, who died Sunday, March 22, 2026.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Geraldine’s name to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, P.O. Box 252, Connoquenessing, PA 16027, or Connoquenessing Meals on Wheels, 102 Shannon Road, Renfrew, PA 16053.
