Joey Felitsky led the WPIAL in passing the past two seasons. Still, the North Catholic senior quarterback believes he has more to prove before moving to the next level.

Felitsky announced earlier this month he’ll take a post-graduate year at the Kiski School, moving back to the 2027 recruiting class.

“I just want to be more developed academically and athletically, as possible,” Felitsky said. “Just so my body forms into more of a bigger, stronger quarterback.”

Felitsky first thought of taking a post-grad year since being ruled ineligible at North Catholic during his sophomore year. He can either stay on campus, commute or move in with family that lives in the area.

Felitsky, who stands 6-foot-1 and weighs 195 pounds, will prepare for college, balancing an academic curriculum with athletics. The Kiski School competes against other prep institutions, mainly from New Jersey or Eastern Pennsylvania.

“I’ll have to manage my time with weight training, studying film, recovery and training,” Felitsky said. “I just wanna challenge myself to reach my full potential as a student-athlete.”

Felitsky is focused on improving his accuracy, arm strength and pocket movement.

Felitsky had college options, including Findlay, Gannon, John Carroll, North Central, Washington & Jefferson and West Liberty.

He said he could’ve seen himself with each of those programs.

“I think I could play at any level,” Felitsky said. “I think I’m very advanced, especially with Coach (Mike) McMahon being my coach. ... Obviously, playing (in) college at any level is a great blessing, but I just think I wanna bet on myself and just get bigger and stronger so people can’t overlook me.”
