Mars Borough looking to repair leak in water system

Water Advisory DME

Mars Borough is asking that all customers of its municipal water system conserve as much water as possible until a leak in the system is repaired.

According to Mayor Gregg Hartung, the leak was discovered about a week ago, although the exact location is still unknown, and specialists have been called in to trace it.

“We have wells that pump water into our reservoir that is processed through our water treatment plant,” Hartung said. “We have one leak that we’re trying to track so we don’t continue to lose water in the reservoir where the water ends up being put into the system for people to drink from.”

Residents who are experiencing low water pressure are asked to call 724-625-1480 and leave a message with the borough’s public works department.
