Earl Starkey

Starkey

Earl Richard Starkey, 77, of Sanford, Fla., formerly of Gibsonia, went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, March 9, 2026.

Born July 23, 1948, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Lesko) Starkey.

Earl proudly served in the United States Air Force and was a longtime steamfitter with Local Union 449. After moving to Florida, he worked on several major projects, including the Kennedy Space Center and Universal Studios’ Islands of Adventure. He later became a certified general contractor and founded ERS Construction, Inc.

A devoted man of faith, Earl worshipped at Grace Community Church and attended weekly Bible studies with great joy. Known affectionately as “Mr. Fix It,” he enjoyed mentoring others, hunting with lifelong friends and sharing his love of shooting sports with his family. A loyal Pittsburgh Steelers fan, he especially treasured time spent with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Schan (Habay) Starkey; children, Tricia (Jorge) Feliu, Magie (James) Hodges and Jonathan (Jessica) Starkey; grandchildren, Cory Starkey, Savanna Hodges, Gavin Starkey and Miya Hodges; brother, Robert Starkey; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Ann Peters.
