JoAnn Wamsley
JoAnn Pauline (Dauenheimer) Wamsley, of Cranberry Township, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at the age of 87.
Born May 15, 1938, to Helen and John Dauenheimer, JoAnn grew up in and around Springdale, Pa., where she met George W. Wamsley, her devoted husband of over 50 years. JoAnn and George married on Nov. 24, 1955, and settled in Valencia, Pa., where they raised three children: Thomas (Holly) Wamsley, Karen (Stuart) Donaldson and Diane (Rod) Rylands.
JoAnn was an engaged and committed member of her community and served as Valencia Borough’s first woman mayor. She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star and participated in the Valencia Volunteer Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary Group.
JoAnn found immense comfort and connection in Christ and was a longtime member of Valencia United Presbyterian Church. She loved American history and visiting Colonial Williamsburg and supported local preservation initiatives as a member of the Valencia Historical Society.
Though she enjoyed quiet pastimes, like reading mystery novels, caring for animals and tending to her flower garden, JoAnn had an adventurous spirit and, occasionally, could be found riding on the back of her husband’s Harley-Davidson.
Warm, funny and affectionate, JoAnn was a doting grandmother to her grandchildren: Chelsea McBryant, Chase Rylands, Elizabeth Donaldson Kolbrener, Brooke Wamsley, Lauren Steighner, Erin Geibel, Alex Sharrow and Ian Sharrow. Her love for children extended beyond her own family and she also cared for children as a nanny and an assistant teacher at Stepping Stones Children’s Center in Gibsonia. She will be remembered for her big laughs and generous hugs.
JoAnn is survived by her three children; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Emma and Easton McBryant, Deacon Steighner and Lainey and Beau Geibel.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Wamsley.
WAMSLEY — A private burial will be held to celebrate the life of JoAnn Pauline (Dauenheimer) Wamsley, who died Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
