Dennis Richard "Denny" "Pap" Harp, 60, of East Fulton Street, Butler, died at 4:54 a.m. Wednesday in the Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Dec. 21, 1948, in Pottstown, Pa., he was the son of the late Carroll Sabold Harp and the late Gladys M. (Place) Harp.

Denny was a Methodist by faith.

He trained thoroughbred racehorses while residing in Hershey and was a manager of Hardic Management Co. Denny was the owner of the Dennis Harp Co., worked at Hiland Golf Course and drove buses.

He was a former member of the Cubs ASA Club, American Legion Post 778, the French and Belgium Club, the Elks, the Pottstown Quoit Club and the Colonie Luxembourgeoise. Denny also enjoyed golfing, swimming, fishing, hunting and watching his grandchildren in all their sports.

He was a graduate of Owen J. Roberts High School.

He is survived by his wife, Donna (Yost) Harp, who he married July 1, 1967; a daughter, Beth Harp-Snyder and her husband, Brian, of Fenelton; four grandchildren, Carrick Harp, Cameron Harp, Conrad Snyder and Baylin Snyder of Fenelton; and a great-grandchild, Keagan Schrecengost. Also surviving are three sisters, Gail DiCuccio of Butler, Sandy Horosky and her husband, Steve, of Pottstown and Debi Harp of Boyertown; three nieces; five nephews; and three sisters-in-law.

<B>HARP</B> — Friends of Dennis Richard "Denny" "Pap" Harp, who died Wednesday, July 22, 2009, will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Aug 1 at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler. Services will be held at 5 p.m. Aug. 1 at the funeral home with Tom Holman of First United Methodist Church, officiating.The family suggests donations be made to the Dennis Harp Athletic Scholarship Fund. Checks can be made payable to the Huntington Bank, 127 S. Main St., Butler, PA 16001.
