Police investigate gift card scam in Jefferson Township
State police in Butler investigated a gift card scam Feb. 11 where a 58-year-old Jefferson Township woman was scammed out of $2,400.
Police said an unknown person contacted her and said there was an issue with her Apple firewall, which would cost $2,400 to fix. The woman later purchased 24 gift cards and provided the scammer with the card numbers for each.
The woman was subsequently unable to contact the scammer. state police are investigating.
