Police: Butler man attempts to kick down door, burglarize residence
A Butler man is accused of attempting to burglarize a residence in the 300 block of West Brady Street.
Bruce Lee Stennett, 37, was charged Thursday, March 5, by Butler police with felony burglary and one misdemeanor count each of resisting arrest, evading arrest, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct following an incident that day.
Police said they were dispatched to a residence on West Brady Street for reports of an attempted burglary. The woman at the residence told police a man attempted to kick in her front door while demanding money, but left the scene.
Police saw a shoeprint on the outside of the woman’s front door and found her door jamb to be broken.
Police later found Stennett and chased him on foot around the block and through an apartment building before he was tased.
Police searched Stennett and found a medicine bottle belonging to the woman he is accused of attempting to burglarize. Police also destroyed a glass smoking pipe found in Stennett’s front pocket.
Stennett’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. March 16 before District Judge William Fullerton.
