Charlene Walthour

Walthour

Charlene Walthour, of Asheville, N.C., passed away Friday, March 6, 2026.

Charlene was born in Kittanning on March 10, 1948, a daughter of the late Henrietta (Gariglio) Walthour Claypoole and Charles Walthour.

Charlene was an X-ray technician for 50 years. She worked at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, in Kittanning, Palm Harbor Walk-in Clinic, in Palm Harbor, Fla., and Roper St. Francis Hospital, in Charleston, S.C. She spent the majority of her working years at Butler VA Medical Center in Butler.

Charlene enjoyed playing golf early on, but cornhole was a game she really enjoyed, even though everyone always spotted her a few feet advantage. And there will always be her wit; sometimes mistaken as bite, it was never intended to hurt, but only engage with humor.

Surviving her are her brother, Charles E., and his wife, Linda, Walthour; and her niece, Lindsey Walthour. There were quite a few special people in her life, particularly Jackie Maunder, Patrick Maunder and Nickie Pearce and her family.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her mother, Henrietta Claypoole; stepfather, Louis Claypoole; and her maternal grandparents.

WALTHOUR — Services will be held in private for Charlene Walthour, who died Friday, March 6, 2026.

Charlene will be cremated at her request. She will be buried in Lawn Burial Estates, in Worthington.
