Freeport girls soccer topples No. 1 seed
Sidney Shemanski and Akina Boynton both scored goals to lift Freeport's girls soccer team to a 2-1 victory over top-seeded Hopewell in a WPIAL Class 2A quarterfinal playoff Thursday night.
Kylie Hoffman and Shemanski both contributed an assist. Maddy Zarichnak recorded 11 saves in the win.
The Yellowjackets (16-4) will take on Yough in a semifinal Monday at a site and time to be determined.
