Knoch returns to WPIAL 3A volleyball final
Hannah Rowe is back on the court.
And Knoch's volleyball team was happy to see her.
Rowe returned from an injury to produce nine kills and six blocks Wednesday night to help the Knights defeat Franklin Regional, 3-0, and return to the WPIAL Class 3A championship match for the third consecutive year.
“She gave us a spark, no doubt about that,” Knoch coach Diane Geist said. “Hannah was just cleared (medically) and we didn't put her in until close to the end of the first set.
“We wanted to ease her back in.”
The Knights (20-1) won the match 25-23, 25-17, 25-18. Knoch will take on Thomas Jefferson — a 3-1 winner over South Fayette in the other semifinal — at 4 p.m. Saturday at Fox Chapel.
Skylar Burkett had 14 kills and six blocks for the Knights Wednesday. Morgan Jack added 11 service points and Kenzie Kerkan contributed 14 digs.
Kennedy Christy remains out of Knoch's lineup with an injury.
“I don't expect her back (for the finals),” Geist said.
Brookville 3, Moniteau 0 — The Warriors dropped this Class 2A playoff game 25-19, 25-17, 25-16. Aslyn Pry had eight kills and two blocks for Moniteau.
Logan Barnhart added 15 assists, Ivie Scott four kills for the Warriors.
Freeport ended its season at 16-6 with a 4-1 loss to South Park in the WPIAL Class 2A consolation game Wednesday night at Mars.South Park (14-4-1) won for the sixth time in seven games and will advance to the PIAA Tournament.
