Mary Katherine Stewart Culbertson Neely, 87, of Butler, peacefully passed away Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Newhaven Court at Clearview.

Born Oct. 8, 1938, in Rimersburg, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Stewart and Mary Fowler Stewart.

Mary Kay was a registered nurse who devoted many years to caring for others. She worked at Butler Memorial Hospital and later at the Butler VA Medical Center. Her dedication to her profession and compassion for her patients were hallmarks of her long nursing career.

She was a member of Meridian Presbyterian Church and the Butler Memorial Hospital Nurses’ Alumnae Association. In her free time, Mary Kay enjoyed sewing and quilting, often creating special pieces for family and friends. She especially cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mary Kay is survived by her loving husband, William Neely; three children, Douglas Culbertson and his wife, Darla, of Butler, Marcie Hunter and her husband, Jeffrey, of Butler, and Dennis Culbertson, of Butler; and one sister, Kristen Stimpert, and her husband, Larry, of Butler.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Sara Taciuch and her husband, Jake, Sean Culbertson, Rachelle Trbusich and her husband, James, Alexa Hunter and her husband, Nick Skowyra, Maura Seikaly and her husband, Daniel, Audra Hunter, Erica Henderson and her husband, Jonathan, and Dylan Culbertson; and seven great-grandchildren, Samuel Schmidt, Nathan Schmidt, Aubrey McGregor, Luka Trbusich, Daniel Seikaly III, Tala Seikaly and Joanna Skowyra.

In addition to her parents, Mary Kay was preceded in death by her first husband, Gary Culbertson, who passed away in 1997; and one sister, Margie Stewart, who passed away in 1962.

Her family thanks the staff at Newhaven Court at Clearview for the excellent care she received during the last three years of her life, as well as the staff of VNA Hospice for the compassionate care and support they provided.

NEELY — There will be no visitation. A memorial service for Mary Katherine Stewart Culbertson Neely, who died Thursday, March 5, 2026, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 14, at Meridian Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave., Butler, with the Rev. Dr. Steve Franklin officiating.

Private burial will take place in Rimersburg Cemetery.
