Rosemary Bernice Schnelle, 74, of West Liberty borough, passed away in Pittsburgh Thursday, March 5, 2026.

She was born April 28, 1951, in New Castle, and was the daughter of Christopher William Watt and Anna Clara Haffner Watt. She attended Lee College in Baytown, Texas, and was a licensed practical nurse.

She married Arthur Jack Schnelle on July 25, 1971; They moved to Baytown, Texas, where she became a private duty nurse, often caring for cancer and stroke patients. She enjoyed geriatric care. She was an avid and eclectic reader and read anything and everything. She had a big heart and actively cared for the West Liberty feline population, providing food and medical care to stray animals, mostly cats. She was also a horror movie buff. She and Jack returned to Pennsylvania in 2020. Jack preceded her in death Nov. 30, 2015.

Survivors include, a daughter, Gwendalen Anne Parker, of Baytown, Texas; son, Matthew Schnelle, of LaPorte, Texas; four sisters, Irene Watt, of New Castle, Christina Barker, of Greenville, Martha Stewart, of New Castle, and Grace Natvig, of New Castle; brother, Christopher Watt, of New Castle; and four grandchildren, Zackery Parker, Luke Parker, Brodie Schnelle and Daniel Parker.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanie Cragle; her parents and husband.

SCHNELLE — The family of Rosemary Bernice Schnelle, who died Thursday, March 5, 2026, will receive friends from 4 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St. Slippery Rock.

A funeral service will take place at 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, at the funeral home.
