Police: 2 killed in Jackson Township; Illinois tipster found dead

Police found two women dead at a Jackson Township home after a man told police in Illinois where to find their bodies and then killed himself Wednesday, March 4.

The man, who has yet to be identified, called the Hillside Police Department in Illinois on Wednesday, saying two people were dead at a Zelienople — later found to be Jackson Township — residence.

“It was a 911 call that came in, and the caller said there are two people at a house in Pennsylvania,” said Andrew Mack, a spokesperson for Hillside police. “He gave the address, and then said that there is going to be a body in this field over here ... I can tell you that it was a 67-year-old male.”

Mack said police immediately responded, and the man killed himself “very quickly after they arrived.” Mack said the man had self-inflicted gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Based on information recovered at the scene, Hillside police contacted the Jackson Township Police Department to ask for a welfare check at the male’s listed home address on Dior Drive.

According to a news release from Jackson Township Police Chief Zeke Reed, police were dispatched to the house, located in the Jackson Ridge neighborhood, just prior to 9 a.m.

Upon arrival, Jackson Township officers forced their way inside and discovered the bodies of the two women. The women died of apparent gunshot wounds.

The investigation has been turned over to state police, who said the two women are “believed to be” related to the man who reported their deaths.

None of the three deceased individuals have been publicly identified, and next of kin have yet to be notified.

Both state police and Jackson Township police said there is believed to be no threat to the public as of Wednesday afternoon.

“At no time was there, nor is there currently, a threat to the community at large,” Reed wrote.
