Baumgart

Mildred Ruth Baumgart, 104, of Chicora, went to be with the Lord early Tuesday morning, March 3, 2026, at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, in Cabot.

Mildred Ruth was born in East Butler on Dec. 29, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Gladys Bauder Byrnes.

She was a graduate of Chicora High School and was a longtime active member of Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church in Chicora. Ruth looked forward to casino trips with her sisters, traveling and camping in the motorhome with her husband, quilting and metal detecting. Ruth had visited all 50 states. She and her husband enjoyed parties, singing and dancing with family and friends. Ruth was fond of her collie dogs, Laddie 1 and Laddie 2.

Ruth was married at Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church in Chicora on June 26, 1943 to Anthony J. “Bookie” Baumgart. Mr. Baumgart preceded her in death on March 31, 1985.

She is survived by a sister, Roseanne McCollough, of Cabot; and a number of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary June McGrady Lowers; three brothers, Joseph, Donald and James Byrnes; as well as a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

BAUMGART — A funeral mass for Mildred Ruth Baumgart, who died Tuesday, March 3, 2026, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 5, at Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church, 409 N. Main St., Chicora, with the Rev. Ward Stakem, OFM Cap., senior parochial vicar of St. Clare Parish, officiating.

Interment will be in Hemphill Cemetery, Chicora.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Baumgart’s name may be made to the Chicora Fire Department, P.O. Box F Chicora, PA 16025, or to Good Samaritan Hospice, 116 Browns Hill Road, Suite 100, Valencia, PA 16059.
