Weiland

William J. Weiland, 91, of Chicora, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2026.

He was born in Butler on May 11, 1934, son of the late William and Mary (Geagan) Weiland.

William graduated from Butler Senior High School and honorably served in the U.S. Army 3rd Armored Division at Fort Knox, Kentucky. After his service he worked at Magnetics Inc. for 45 years until he retired.

William was a third degree black belt in Taekwondo. He was a member of American Legion Post 642, in Chicora, where he performed funeral detail services for many years. He was a master craftsman, who enjoyed woodworking and camping. William was known for being a loving father and grandfather to his two sons and his four grandchildren.

William was the husband of the late Vivian (Wise) Weiland, from their marriage on July 18, 1959, until her death in 2007; father of Eric (Kathy) and Brian (Marcy) Weiland; brother of Cecelia Rearick; grandfather of Sara (Cole) Wiand, Steph, Hannah and Max. He is also survived by his loving significant other, Patti Worley.

Along with his parents and wife, William was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Weiland, Caroline Mittica and Norma Jean Kudamik.

WEILAND — Family and friends of William J. Weiland, who died Sunday, March 1, 2026, will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 5, at SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler. A blessing service with full military honors will immediately follow in the funeral home.
