Dodson

First Sgt. Rick W. Dodson, 66, of Butler, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026.

He was born in St. Joseph, Md., on Feb. 28, 1959, son of the late RA and Marion Dodson.

Rick honorably served in the U.S. Army for over 20 years and retired as an E-9 first sergeant. He was a gun enthusiast and a member of the National Rifle Association. Rick enjoyed RV traveling. He was a fly fisherman and master scuba diver.

Rick was known for being kind, reliable, generous, competitive and athletic.

He was the beloved husband of Karan (Burch) Dodson, since their marriage 33 years ago; father of Michael Dodson, Candice Hudson and Robert Wrobel; and grandfather of Arianna, Adylyn, Wesley, Avielle and Dash.

DODSON — Family and friends of Rick W. Dodson, who died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026, will be received from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler. Full military honors with a prayer service will immediately follow in the funeral home.
