Clarion man runs for office

CLARION — Tom McConnell is running for Clarion County treasurer in the Republican primary May 19.

He said fiscal responsibility and transparency are important to him. He also said he wants to bring fresh ideas to the office.

“After all the years of remarkable service by Tess Snyder, I plan to learn from her success as well as bring new ideas to the office,” McConnell of Clarion said in his news release.

He is a 2014 graduate of Clarion University, receiving a bachelor’s degree in political science.

In 2014, McConnell was an assistant in Clarion County’s Assessment Office. After five months, he was promoted to full-time between that office and as deputy recorder for the Clarion County Register and Recorder’s Office.

In 2013, McConnell launched Young Conservatives of America, a national network of conservative student organizations consisting of more than 30 chapters across the country. He is that organization’s executive vice president.

He lives with his wife, Taylor.
