Dorothy Bohrer

Bohrer

Dorothy Jean Moreland Bohrer, 86, of Stafford, Va., formerly of Prospect, passed away Monday, Feb. 23, 2026.

Born May 19, 1939, in Oil City, she was a daughter of the late Harry C. Moreland and Helen J. Keating Moreland. She was the only daughter-in-law of the late Albert E. Bohrer and Laverne Demoy Bohrer.

A graduate of Clarion State College, Dorothy was a second- and third-grade teacher in the Lower Burrell School District. She taught at Gladeview and later, Stewart School.

Dorothy had been widowed since the passing of her beloved husband, James H. Bohrer, on March 5, 2011. They were wed at St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church in Lower Burrell, Pa., and were married for over 50 years.

In Prospect, Dorothy and “Jimmy” owned and operated Moraine Fishing and Camping Center, a gas station/bait and tackle store on Route 528, for 40 years. The store closed in August 2011, after Jim’s passing.

They were members of St. Christopher at the Lake Roman Catholic Church, since their move from Lower Burrell to Prospect in 1973. Dorothy loved the Lord Jesus incredibly, and continuously directed others to the Lord as her source of strength. She always had a positive upbeat attitude that started every morning with prayer.

Dorothy is survived by son, Douglas J. Bohrer and his wife, Joanne, and their children, Doug Jr. and his wife, Robin, Jason and his wife, Maggie, and Stephen; only daughter, Suzanne M. Farabaugh and her husband, Eric, and their children, Eric-James and Madison; and son, Albert J. “A.J” Bohrer and his wife, Beverly, and their children, Sienna, Jordan and Trinity. Dorothy also has three great-grandchildren, Banks, Hunter and Blakely.

She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Aimee Bohrer Switala, Leah Bohrer Walsh, Karen Bohrer Becker and Michelle “Shelley” Bohrer Kotoff and their families; and cousins, Clint Moreland, Mary Ann Moreland Vitunac and Margie Moreland Swope and their families. She was blessed with a multitude of nieces and nephews and INCREDIBLE friends.

Her siblings who have gone ahead to the Lord are Carol Moreland Solomon and Harry Moreland. Dorothy was also preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Kathy Bohrer Barbagollo; and her brother-in-law, Bill Solomon.
