More information released on Feb. 6 multi-vehicle crash on I-79

Pennsylvania State Police have released information on two additional vehicles involved in a crash on Interstate 79 northbound in Jackson Township on Friday, Feb. 6.

According to a newly released crash report, a 2021 Subaru Outback lost control while traveling north on I-79. A 2023 Ford F-150XLT struck the Subaru on both its passenger and driver’s sides at about 10:30 a.m. The incident occurred at mile marker 84.4.

Although both vehicles in the later crash sustained only minor damage and were able to be driven away. State police said the driver of the Outback was charged with driving at unsafe speed, but that driver was not named in the news release.

Pittsburgh native Evan M. Gingo was killed in another part of the multi-vehicle crash while driving north in a Subaru Impreza, police said. The crash involving his vehicle occurred at 10:28 a.m. near mile marker 84.5 in Jackson Township.
