10 crews respond to Buffalo Twp. fire
A house fire just off Route 356 caused a large enough response from emergency crews it blocked off the only entrance in and out of a housing development and slowed traffic in the area.
Ten fire departments responded to the structure fire Thursday afternoon, Feb. 19, in Buffalo township, dispatchers said.
The fire broke out in the basement of a house on the 200 block of Edgewood Drive, just off Route 356.
The fire was first called in around 1:35 p.m. with Buffalo Township, Sarver and Saxonburg fire departments called out. Eventually, departments and EMS agencies from both Butler and Allegheny County responded.
At the time, smoke was seen coming from the basement of the house.
At one point, after a second alarm was requested, firefighters battling the flames inside were told to evacuate the structure.
Though limited information was immediately available, Butler County dispatchers said the fire was under control about two and a half hours later, though it was still an active emergency scene into the evening.
Dispatchers said nobody was injured or needed transported by ambulance due to the fire.
