Margaret Shultz
Margaret L. “Peggy” Shultz, 89, of Harrisville, passed away Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, at her residence.
She was born March 22, 1936, in Butler, daughter of the late Norman and Theresa (Kienzle) Hariff.
She graduated from Butler High School in 1954. She went on to work as a cosmetologist at her home salon until retiring in 1996. In addition, Margaret worked as a hairdresser at Sunnyview for eight years. She was also a longtime member of First United Methodist Church, as well as the AARP, the American Legion No. 778, the VFW No. 249, the Tanglewood, the Moose Lodge No. 249, the Butler Farm Show and the Jefferson Grange No. 1373.
Margaret enjoyed going to card parties (particularly 500 bid), playing bingo, going to the senior center (both Butler and Franklin), traveling and camping, as well as spending time with her loving family.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Sherry Patton; her seven grandchildren, Travis Thompson, Chad (Autumn) Thompson, Abbey Thompson, Robert (Jessica) Shultz, Richele (James) Shultz, James (Gloria) Patton and Jacob (Chloe) Patton; her two great-grandchildren, Skylar Hastings and Sawyer Shultz; her sister, Norma Snyder; as well as by her numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Robert Shultz Jr., whom she married Jan. 30, 1956, and who passed away Dec. 7, 1996; her sister, Gladys Saniga; her daughter, Debra Thompson; her son, Robert Shultz III; her daughter-in-law, Pam Shultz; her two brothers-in-law, Bob Snyder and John Saniga; her two sons-in-law, Robert Patton and Larry Thompson; as well as by her loving friend and companion, Raymond “Ray” Klingensmith.
SHULTZ — Friends and family of Margaret L. “Peggy” Shultz, who died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at the funeral home, with Pastor David Janz officiating.
A private burial will take place at Greenlawn Burial Estates.
