Janet McCormick
Janet Louise McCormick, 81, passed away Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026. She was at peace in the loving arms of Jesus.
Born April 30, 1945, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Rudolph and Bertha Valunsky Ochaba.
Janet lived life to the fullest and was popular and fun wherever she went. She spent her working career as a secretary in various departments at the Veterans’ Administration Hospital in Butler, ultimately, serving veterans as the chief of staff’s secretary.
While at the VA, she met her two dearest friends, Carmie Baker and Carolyn Solomon, whom she remained close with her entire life.
Janet’s most important jobs, though, were as a mother and a grandmother. She adored her family, and especially loved helping raise her beloved grandson, Nicholas, of whom she was so proud. She and Nick had countless special times together, as he transported her to medical appointments and then to an eating venue of her choice to share a meal. MiMi, as Nick called her, loved to eat!
Janet was an exceptional mother and lived for countless family trips to Disney World; Rehoboth Beach; Dresden, Ohio; and many other travels throughout Pennsylvania. Janet was so much fun!
Janet had a strong faith in God and never missed her prayers each night.
She leaves behind to cherish her precious memory, her daughters, Lisa (Thomas) McGrath and Susan Slomer; and her grandson, Nicholas Slomer.
Also surviving are her two brothers, Rudolph (Janet) Ochaba and George (Donna) Ochaba; as well as her niece, nephew and several cousins.
