Winter activities thrived after 2010 snowstorm
There was a little too much snow in Butler County on Feb. 16, 2010, for area drivers and too little snow in Vancouver for Olympic athletes. However, it was just about perfect for those who use Moraine State Park.
Workers at the park use a snow groomer to condition parts of the park for snowmobilers, cross-country skiers and snowshoers. The conditions for those outdoor activities remained good for a short while.
Jeremy Reckich, the assistant manager of Moraine State Park at the time, said trail etiquette was important for the safety of everyone using them during the winter.
“We are grooming and setting trails here on the South Shore for the cross-country skiers,” Reckich said, “and our snowmobile trail here is being heavily used, day and night.”
