Georgia Cherry
Georgia M. Cherry, 93, of Butler, passed away in the presence of her loving family on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026.
Born May 12, 1932, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late George Kuhn and Leona Steighner Kuhn.
Georgia worked as a registered nurse at Butler Memorial Hospital.
She was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking and family gatherings. She especially liked to play cards and she participated in her neighborhood card club for more than 40 years.
Georgia is survived by three daughters, Vicki Hinterberger and her husband, Dr. Steven Hinterberger, of Butler, Valerie Boyer, of Butler, and Michele Diamond and her husband, John Diamond, of Ashtabula, Ohio; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Victor A. Cherry, whom she married Sept. 11, 1954, and who passed away Sept. 7, 2022; one daughter, Lisa Lynn Staruch, who passed away April 1, 1998; two brothers; and one sister.
CHERRY — There will be no visitation for Georgia M. Cherry, who died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, at All Saints Parish, St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Ave., Butler, with the Rev. Kevin C. Fazio officiating.
Burial will take place in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
In the lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Georgia M. Cherry to Butler Catholic School, 515 E. Locust St., Butler, PA 16001.
