Emergency crews and the Butler County Hazardous Materials Response Team responded to a fire at an abandoned gas well Thursday, Feb. 12, in Forward Township, according to Butler County Emergency Services dispatch.

Crews were dispatched around 1:20 p.m. to the gas well at 120 Tunnel Road.

Dispatchers reported a man in his 50s had sustained burns.

Evans City Area Volunteer Fire Department and Quality EMS were also dispatched.

The fire crew and hazmat team went back in service at 1:45 p.m., according to dispatch reports.
