Murdock

James A. Murdock, 86, of Butler, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026, at the Embassy of Saxonburg.

Born Aug. 3, 1939, he was the son of Lee Murdock and Blanche Jones Murdock.

James served in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a local union construction laborer. He was a member of Thorn Creek United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge 502, and of Lyndora American Legion Post 117. He enjoyed helping with the Boy Scouts and he was an avid hunter and shooter. He loved the blues, reading and sitting on the back porch.

Surviving are his children, Wendy Murdock, Renee (Lou) Donatelli, Meghan Pohl, Josiah Murdock; sister, Karyn Ward; grandchildren, Jessica Fortino and Fiona Pohl; sister-in-law, Pat Murdock; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Murdock; his parents; and one brother, William Murdock.

MURDOCK — A memorial service for James A. Murdock, who died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at Thorn Creek U.M. Church, 142 Rockdale Road, Butler, with the Rev. Todd Ciarimboli officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the Butler VA.
